GriFin (Grid for Finance) is an Italian project aiming at developing a Grid-based Problem Solving Environment for the financial domain.

The first phase of the project focuses on studying and experimenting advanced solutions to achieve transparent access to computing and storage resources. Grid portals are used to provide users with high-level tools to manage workflows and application composition. The study of security solutions addresses multidomain environment issues and privacy concerns. In addition innovative models for resource usage accounting and digital rights management are investigated.

The results of these activities consist of a standard-based grid service architecture, extended to take into account requirements from the financial domain. A set of demonstrators are developed and made available as a proof of concept for the achitecture proposed.

During the second phase of the project demonstrators developed are integrated to create an homogeneous environment which will be deployed to the Grid hardware infrastructure provided by the SPACI project.
